Dream Moon Painting Exhibition will kick off in China Red Sandalwood Museum

The Dream Moon Painting Exhibition that jointly sponsored by China Red Sandalwood Museum and Shanghai Hanhong Gallery will kick off on Jun 13th 2015 in China Red Sandalwood Museum. It is reported that the event will last until Jun 22nd and 101 round silk funs with painting which are Josh. Yu’s new works in recent 3 years will be exhibited.    

 

Josh Yu was born in Shanghai, China. He graduated from Shanghai medical school. In the middle 1980s, Mr. Josh Yu was invited as a Chinese visiting artist to participate a cultural exchange program between the U.S. and China.  Since 1993, Josh has been working at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where he earned a terminal degree in studio art. In more than 20 years of work at SCAD, Mr. Yu has been a gallery manager, professor, chairman of the painting department, studio director, director of special projects in the office of the president. He also owns East-West Gallery for promoting art and culture.

 

Since coming to America, Josh Yu has had 24 solo exhibitions and attended more than 60 group exhibitions at galleries and museums around world. In 1998, Mr. Yu had a solo installation “Beyond Image,” in China National Art Gallery in Beijing and Sichuan Fine Art Gallery in Sichuan, China. In 1999, Mr. Yu’s “Tao of Bamboo” installation was presented the Gold Award by The Forte Cup 20th Century Asian Pacific Art Competition at the University of George Washington in Washington, DC.  In 2002, his traveling cataloged exhibition “Riding the Wind” showed in the Rawls Museum of Arts, Courtland, VA, USA; Alexander Gallery, Savannah GA, USA; Zhu Qizhan Museum of Art, Shanghai, China; Haw Par Exhibition Hall, Singapore; and  UCF Gallery, the University of Central Florida, FL, USA. In 2007, “Following the Heart”, a cataloged show was exhibited at Fu Da Gallery in Shanghai Institute of Oil Painting and Sculpture in China and in Singapore.  In 2011, “Burning Wood Seeking Rain,” a cataloged show was exhibited in 99 Art Center, Shanghai University, Fine Art College, China. In 2012, “Josh Yu’s 25 Years Retrospective: Transformation, ” organized by the City of Savannah’s Department of Cultural Affairs and supported by Georgia Council for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, showed at S.P.A.C.E. Gallery in Savannah, GA for a month.

 

Mr. Yu has been an active artist, professor, and lecturer at many universities in China and the U.S., he has also judged many national art competitions. About 20 years ago, he established the Josh Yu Chinese Painting Scholarship for encouraging students to learn Chinese art at SCAD.
