Calligraphy exhibition themed Roots of wisdom of venerable Master Hsing Yun was held in the National Museum on 1st March, 2016. It was a feast for the Master Hsing Yuns lifetime and his achievements in Buddhism and Calligraphy. The whole exhibition was divided into main eight areas containing an introduction of Master Hsing Yun and the collection of his masterpiece, totaling three hundred.

Many famous people from all over the world, totaling about two thousand attended this exhibition, including Lv Zhangshen, the curator of the National Museum, Chan laiwa, the deputy director of Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the CPPCC National Committee and Curator of China Red Sandalwood Museum, Liu Changle, the standing member of CPPCC National Committee and chairman of Phoenix TV, Ye xiaowen, the former director of National Bureau, etc.

Moreover, the China Red Sandalwood Museum provided several sets of elegant red sandalwood furniture including red sandalwood chairs, bookshelves, desks etc. without any costs, which made this exhibition more splendid.

As we all known, Buddhism and Chinese calligraphy are well bounded to each other in Chinese culture and artworks and this is well shown in the lifetime of Master Hsing Yun. At the beginning of the exhibition, Master Hsing Yun made a speech and he said, my vision became blurred at any distance ten years ago. I was afraid that I would become dull because of getting old. Then I decided to learn Chinese calligraphy and wrote it following my heart. Gradually I created the own style of writing Yi Zibi, that is one stroke of the brush and it was done. So please look beyond my words, and see my heart.

As the leader in the field of Buddhism and calligraphy, he always advocates to spread Buddhism education and culture in the public. So far he has built more than two hundred temples, sixteen Buddhism schools, twenty galleries, twenty libraries, twelve bookstores, four universities and fifty Chinese schools all over the world, which make a tremendous contribution to the communication between mainland and Taiwan and other countries and lay a road for the development for Chinese calligraphy. Therefore, we all can have a better understanding of Master Hsing Yuns lifetime and his concept and appreciate the joy and wisdom from the calligraphy to finally liberate our souls in the feast.

During the exhibition, Curator Chan was interviewed by a journalist that why you provided such a big support to this exhibition without any costs. Our handicraft red sandalwood furniture was very precious and valuable and it cost nearly three years for forty workers to make. However, just like Master Hsing Yun advocated, we should worship the Buddha and do the good things. So in my whole life, I tried my best to dedicate to this society and make a contribution to inherit Chinese culture, Curator Chan replied. Last she said we all wish Master Shing Yun will be good.

This exhibition will last until 25 March this year. Welcome everyone to have a visit and have a pleasant day here.
