Palace Museum, Zhuhai City Hengqin District Administrative Committee and China Red Sandalwood Museum signed Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement

The Palace Museum, Zhuhai City Hengqin District Administrative Committee and the China Red Sandalwood Museum signed Strategic Cooperation Agreement in Beijing on December 13, 2017. Guests attending the signing ceremony included Shan Jixiang, director of Palace Museum; Wang Yamin, standing vice-director of Palace Museum; Long Guangyan, member of standing committee and Propaganda Minister of Zhuhai City; Yang Chuan, head of Administrative Committee of Hengqin District Zhuhai City; Chan Laiwa, director of the China Red Sandalwood Museum and chair-lady of Fu Wah International Group; Chiu Yung, president of Fu Wah International Group; Jean-Paul Desroches, General Conservator of French Culture Heritage and former Director of Musée national des Arts asiatiques-Guimet, etc. Wang Yamin, Yang Chuan and Chiu Yung represented the three parties signed the Agreement.

According to the Agreement, three parties will work together to build a branch of China Red Sandalwood Museum in Hengqin district, Zhuhai City with cooperative scope ranging from exhibitions to cultural communication on a basis of equality, mutual benefit, resource sharing and common development.

Rooting in Hengqin district Zhuhai City, radiating to Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao Greater Bay Area and opening the whole world it is said this new branch will be created as a comprehensive cultural tourist platform to display imperial culture from the Palace Museum and Chinese traditional red sandalwood art, as well as for communication of top cultural organizations at home and abroad, which will promote cultural development in Greater Bay Area.

 

Shan Jixiang, director of the Palace Museum delivered a speech on the signing ceremony.  

 

On the ceremony, director Shan said the Palace Museum had been aiming to spread Palace Museum culture and taking its social function.

 

Yang Chuan, head of Hengqin District Administrative Committee delivered a speech on the ceremony.

 

Zhuhai municipal government paid much attention to this project and would continue to concern and support it to make sure successful implementation, said by Yang Chuan.

 

Chan Laiwa, director of the China Red Sandalwood Museum delivered a speech on the ceremony.

 

She recalled friendly cooperation between the China Red Sandalwood Museum and the Palace Museum these years. She extended sincere gratitude for concern and support from the Palace Museum, Zhuhai Municipal Government, Hengqin District Administrative Committee and society and promised to ensure successful completeness of Hengqin branch with the spirit of red sandalwood artisan.

 

Jean-Paul Desroches, General Conservator of French Culture Heritage delivered a speech on the ceremony.

 

Jean-Paul Desroches said it bears witness to the real spirit of opening for displaying arts works from Palace Museum in Hengqin. Chiu Yung, president of Fu Wah International Group showed design sketch of Hengqin branch to guests. He said Fu Wah International Group will spare no efforts to complete this project and build a high-class comprehensive museum to exhibit and inherit Chinese traditional culture.

It is predicted that Hengqin branch will be opened to public in 2019. By cooperation with top cultural paradise the Palace Museum, with professional experience of the China Red Sandalwood Museum and full support from Zhuhai Municipal Government, this branch will become a new cultural landmark in Zhuhai, which will add an international card for Zhuhai City and promote cultural industry development in the Greater Bay Area.

This Framework Agreement successfully signed by three parties is the very practice to implement and live up to inspirit of "the 16th National Congress of CPC" and promote the socialist culture flourish. By taking this opportunity of strategic cooperation, three parties will fully exercise their advantages based on their resource to further promote Chinese traditional culture and work with other museums to develop city historical culture.
