Red Sandalwood Museum 

The eve before National Holiday in 1999, the Red Sandalwood Museum which features the Ming and Qing dynasties has been established in Beijing by Mrs. Chan Laiwa with the total cost of 200 million RMB. This is the very first private red sandalwood museum while named begin with the word of China. Orientation of the museum is taking the furniture and s from The Palace Museum as blueprint and Mrs Chan searched and gathered hundreds of skillful craftsmen working with the long-term persistence for several years and adhering to the principle of  one step of chisel, two moves of engraving, 7 times of burnishto relive the Forbidden City heritage though the adoption of completed handmade mortise and tenon technique that resulted in bringing the Chinese traditional workmanship into superiority. The top cultural relics experts commented the museum as a unparalleled masterpiece to this day.

The earliest record about sandalwoodin ancient China can been traced back to The Book of Songs; in the Donghan Dynasty Red Sandalwood had been deemed as a kind of apiece for paying tribute to the royal from foreign countries; in Tang Dynasty Red Sandalwood began its debute performing as gadget in the palace. There is a story goes that Empress Wu once used red sandalwood to build a coffin for her pet parrot. Thus, when did it raise the curtain for ancient China forging red sandalwood into items.
